I love and hate this topic all at the same time. Why? Because my mama taught me not to make excuses. That means I was taught that life doesn’t just happen to you. You actually choose.

But not everyone is that lucky to have a mama who is that wise. This is also where the frustration comes in. So instead of being annoyed, how can we help you change your perspective? How can we help you find joy?

November Fall Force Episode 3 of 4

Welcome to Week 3 of November Fall Force!

Who’s energy is this? Also known as the “The Shit Sandwich” Scenario:

We are all empaths. We pick up on other people’s energy. Think of a time when you just “had a gut feeling that something was off” or looking at a picture that “says a thousand words” or hearing a song that evokes emotion from you…those emotions emit energy. We are consuming that energy from To paraphrase Esther Hicks in her book, Ask and it is Given, when you’re feeling a negative emotion it means that you’re out of touch with your higher self. It generally means that you are allowing a situation or a person to calibrate how you feel at this particular moment. Terri likes to call this the “Who’s shit sandwich is this?” Scenario. Pardon the disgusting expression, but it is meant to shock you.  We invite you to pause this week and take note of any time that you’re not feeling up to par and ask yourself that question. Sometimes the answer is “It’s mine…I have something to own, something to process.” The answer could also be: “HEY! Wait a minute….this isn’t mine!?! No thank you, this is YOURS. I refuse to give my power away to this situation/scenario/person. Thank you, but no thank you.” 

JOURNAL PROMPT – Any time that you just don’t feel normal, ask yourself, “who’s shit sandwich is this” and free write in your journal.

THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITY: If you are feeling a negative emotion, remove yourself from the situation. Then ask yourself the question, “who’s shit sandwich is this?”

Welcome to Week 2 of November Fall Force!

Are you feeling safe enough to step out of your comfort zone?

I double-dog dare ya!…. Finding a way to be curious and giving yourself permission to step out of that comfort zone helps build “muscle.” Each time you flex that muscle again, it gets stronger and your zone expands. With practice, eventually, your boundaries diminish and you don’t worry about your comfort zone anymore. You just enjoy.

Why Turn Signals?

When I needed guidance, Find Your Road Home, was the phrase that stuck with my heart. How many times have you heard, “you’re just lost” while on your journey?

You aren’t lost. The spot you may find yourself in might be painful and you may not want to remain there, but that doesn’t imply you are lost. I challenge that is a cop-out.

Turn Signals are directions. Think of your life as a map, and each decision as a crossroad. It may be a two-way road, or it may be four, five or even more offshoots. Turn signals don’t tell you which way to go. Instead, they give you details. Words mean different things depending on where you are or even how they are said. So what tells one person to go right may tell the person next to them to go left.

I chose four-letter words because they are more common. I don’t want age, education, or language to be a hinderance to the guidance and direction you want/need.

CARE: Self-care is more than hair and nails. We must nurture our inner spirit to help it find the best path for growth. If you are seeing this card, you need to pause and take care of yourself. This needs to happen regularly. Let’s get it scheduled.

Watch for/Remember

WIND: Nothing poses more danger to a flame than a gust of wind. We never know when that wind will extinguish our light. Strengthening our conviction and maybe even our core will help protect that flame. If you stand strong, it can withstand any wind. Even the big bad wolf.

DIRT: Sometimes the path can be more rugged than others. Just because it poses a challenge doesn’t mean it isn’t worth the extra effort. Usually, the toughest climbs offer the most beautiful vistas. Don’t be afraid to keep trekking on, even if you can’t see clearly ahead.

Watch for/Remember

WENT: It is okay to revisit the past, and when growing, sometimes we have to revisit the past. We need reminders of previous happiness, sadness, mistakes, and adventures. We need reminders about what to try again and what to avoid. What lessons from the past do you need to revisit?

BUT do NOT get stuck there. Something is telling me that someone isn’t living their life because they are getting stuck. It’s okay. Take a baby step.

Strengthening the Throat Chakra

What is it?

In the last few decades, Chakras have become a part of popular culture. Many people reference the colors, imagery, and feelings related to these energy hubs in their daily lives. There are seven chakras in the human body, and five more outside, making up the 12 major chakras. 

The Throat Chakra is located in the center of your neck, or at your throat. This chakra is obviously connected to speaking, chanting, and singing. It is also connected to creativity and self-expression. The throat chakra is associated with the neck, thyroid, esophagus, teeth, mouth, and ears. The throat and thyroid are where we give life to our emotions, intentions, praise, and criticism. As you can imagine, the throat chakra is often blamed for our food, beverage, and illegal substance addictions, and it is fair.

Visibility

How does the throat chakra show up in other organisms? Without a brain, can I have self-expression?

  1. Elephants: elephants constantly communicate with each other. Here’s an article to learn more.
  2. Whales: whales are also constantly in communication with each other and their young. 
  3. Tree frogs: frogs communicate about territory, food, danger and more. 
  4. Crickets: Have you ever read The Cricket in Times Square. Highly recommend it!
  5. Toadfish: toadfish actually SING! And you can hear them out of the water. 
  6. Bioluminescence: bioluminescence is a chemical form of communication. While it is not intentional, it still serves the purpose of communication and protection from predators. 

As mentioned in previous writings, the Earth itself has a chakra system. The Throat Chakra for the planet as a whole is located at The Great Pyramids of Giza. We will talk more about that in a bit.

Unbalanced

So how will I know it’s my throat chakra that is unbalanced and not my solar plexus chakra or one of the other chakras? 

The most obvious sign the throat chakra is blocked is struggling to find your words and/or speak. Do you feel nervous about expressing yourself? Do you think no one will understand? Do you stand up for yourself verbally or do you shrink away to avoid conflict? I will be honest and vulnerable here, I may have answered yes to more than one of those. 

There are physical signs as well. These include laryngitis, sore throats, some breathing issues, dizziness (ears), fatigue, and even anemia. 

Our pets might show an imbalance in their throat chakra through communication. They may be meowing or barking or even whining more than usual. They also may not be listening. Our pets have similar neck organs to ours, so they can have similar issues.  

Even Earth is showing an imbalance in her Throat Chakra. Groundwater levels are rising at the Great Pyramids and the facilities, quite frankly, are just old. Beginning in 2019, it became illegal to even climb the pyramids. Mount Olives Jerusalem is also part of the Earth’s throat chakra, and it is currently in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Each nation feels it should have control over the area, and Arabs have been known to desecrate gravesites. 

Balancing

How can we begin to balance out all of this imbalance? 

As humans, we have many different ways to heal our own chakras, especially the Throat chakra. 

Affirmations

One way to work on balancing out energy in the body is through affirmations. For the throat chakra, we want affirmations that address the challenges for the chakra itself:

  • I communicate confidently and with ease
  • I can communicate freely
  • I take time to listen and speak the truth
  • I have clear boundaries
  • Good things and words come from me

Activities

In addition to affirmations, other physical activities will support balancing our throat chakra. These include but are not exclusive to:

  • Hydrate. Our throat needs water. 
  • Sing! Sing in the shower. Sing in the car. Sing anywhere you are allowed – yes, even if you are tone-deaf.
  • Call someone and talk or just talk to yourself in the mirror.
  • Read something out loud – even the shampoo bottle will work.
  • Write down what you want to say. 
  • Sit in silence.

Balancing the throat chakra enables us to transition and work on another chakra. This becomes useful when we are ready to balance our chakras in pairs. The chakra most often paired with the Throat Chakra, for healing purposes, is the Sacral Chakra. The Sacral Chakra is the center of creativity and birth. When it is healthy, an equally healthy Throat Chakra enables us to share, share, share.

Once our Throat Chakra is balanced, we can begin strengthening it. This can be done through activities such as: 

  • Breathing exercises.
  • Practice hearing more and not just listening to respond. 
  • Develop those hobbies – create, create, create!
  • Let go of the things you cannot control. 
  • Yoga exercises for the throat chakra.
  • Embrace the blue.
  • Embrace blue crystals such as turquoise, aquamarine, lapis lazuli, and sodalite.
  • Eat/use blueberries, honey, tea, and lemon.

Impact

Imagine a world where everyone’s Throat Chakra was open and balanced. What would it look like? 

WE ARE EXPRESSIVE.

What does that look like? I suspect many people think they are being expressive right now. But are they truly using their throat chakra? Are they listening as well as speaking? Expression is not about putting YOUR voice out there. Expression is considerate. Expression considers the ecosystem, you know, other people. 

Take a few moments, and jot down what you think a balanced expressive world would look like. If you feel inclined, comment here and share. Personally, I have no idea what it would look like. I will need to sit in it for a bit and think about it.

A partner card helps you identify what has you spinning: PARK: you are taking life too seriously. Go out and PLAY!!!

For SOMEONE ELSE

FOOL: Someone believes they are not the “right stuff” to do whatever it is they are trying to do. But that’s silly. They just need more practice.

A partner card helps them identify the first step to take to feel more successful: WIND: all it takes is a little gust of wind to change course. They just need to change how they are looking at it. Instead of saying “I am not the right stuff,” try saying, “I will continue to practice.” Eventually, you want to switch to saying, “I am the right stuff.” But I recognize that takes baby steps. This is the first step.

Watch for/Remember

ROAD: The new adventure is still en route. That means we need to really start making plans. Don’t wait until the last minute.

A partner card helps you identify where to start in your planning: MOON: start by looking at your cycles/patterns with other people. Are they healthy? Do you want to keep them? How can you help make them healthier, or at least not feed the current cycle?

NONE: Hello lack perspective! Are you comparing yourself to others? STOP! Just live life for a hot minute. Smile. Enjoy the chill in the air (or lack thereof). Play in the snow (if you have it). Giggle. You have everything you could want or need. Just look around.

ZEAL: What would they do no matter what? Or who would they be with? What brings them utter joy (childlike)? Shut out the noise of the naysayers and enjoy your life. It’s yours, not theirs.

Watch for/Remember

GROW: Don’t forget to approach things with a growth mindset. Whatever it is will only help you improve. Even if you fail. In fact, what if you subtracted fear of failing and looked at EVERY opportunity as GROWTH? Would you live differently?

HEAR: Surrounded by infinite noise, we struggle to hear. We listen to respond, but we don’t always listen to hear. Sometimes we just need to hear a different perspective. Sometimes we just need to hear we are okay. And sometimes we just need to be heard.
